UPA home minister had called ‘concerned citizens’ more dangerous than the guerrilla army: BJP’s Amit Malviya reminds Rahul Gandhi

New Delhi: BJP’s Amit Malviya slammed former Congress President Rahul Gandhi after he attacked the Central government over its stand on dissenting voices in the country.

Taking it to Twitter, Amit Malviya reminded Rahul Gandhi about 2013 when Sushil Kumar Shinde-headed home ministry had called these ‘concerned citizens’ more dangerous than the guerrilla army. It also “Labelled ‘activists and academicians’ as urban naxals.”

He further said that he feels pity to see Indira’s grandson defending those who assassinated India Gandhi and defiled Bapu.

Earlier in the day, Rahul Gandhi Tweeted, “For Modi Govt: Dissenting students are anti-nationals. Concerned citizens are urban naxals. Migrant labourers are Covid carriers. Rape victims are nobody. Protesting farmers are Khalistani. And Crony capitalists are best friends.”

About 2013 affidavit

In a 2013 affidavit, the Congress-led UPA government had informed the Supreme Court that one of the strategies used by the Maoists was to “mobilise certain targeted sections of the population, especially the urban population, through its ‘mass organisations’ which are otherwise known as ‘front organisations’”. It had also stated that these were more dangerous than the guerrilla army.
