Uttarakhand New CM LIVE UPDATES: BJP to pick new Chief Minister; Ajay Bhatt says “I’m not part of any race”

New Delhi: BJP legislature party meeting began in Dehradun at 10 am today to decide new Uttarakhand CM.

This comes a day after Trivendra Singh Rawat resigned after days of speculation about a leadership change in the state.

Dhan Singh Rawat, who is a minister of state in the Uttarakhand government is being considered as the frontrunner for the chief ministerial post.

He is considered to be close to the RSS. BJP MPs Anil Baluni, Ajay Bhatt and Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank are the other contenders for the position.

Union Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’ also participated in Uttarakhand BJP legislative party meeting in Dehradun.
