Calcutta High Court imposes Rs 5 lakhs fine on Mamata Banerjee for putting judiciary in bad light

New Delhi: Calcutta High Court imposes a fine of Rs 5 lakhs on West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee for putting the judiciary in a bad light.

The amount will be used for lawyers families who have been affected by COVID19.

Justice Kaushik Chanda declined to recuse from hearing West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee’s election petition against LoP Suvendu Adhikari.

He had also served as Additional Solicitor General for the BJP government before he was elevated to the Bench.
