He also laid the foundation for several other development projects in the region during his fifth visit to the state this year. During his visit, the Prime Minister inspected the airport and took a walkthrough to assess its facilities and infrastructure.

During the inauguration of Shivamogga airport, Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended his greetings to former Chief Minister and senior BJP leader BS Yediyurappa, who is also celebrating his 80th birthday today. PM Modi expressed his admiration for the new airport, describing it as grand and beautiful. He went on to say that the airport represents the perfect combination of Karnataka's tradition and technology and is not just a building, but a symbol of the aspirations of the local youth. The construction of the airport was completed at a cost of approximately Rs 450 crore, and its Passenger Terminal Building is in the shape of a lotus, with the capacity to accommodate 300 passengers per hour.

At a cost of Rs 990 crore, the Shivamogga–Shikaripura–Ranebennur railway line will be constructed, improving connectivity for the Malnad region with the Bengaluru-Mumbai mainline. In addition, the Koteganguru railway coaching depot in Shivamogga city will be developed with an expenditure of over Rs 100 crore, facilitating the initiation of new trains from Shivamogga and reducing congestion at maintenance facilities in Bengaluru and Mysuru.

During his visit to Karnataka, PM Modi will lay the foundation stone for several road development projects worth more than Rs 215 crore, including the construction of a new bypass road for Shikaripura town connecting Byndur – Ranebennur, widening of NH-169A from Megaravalli to Agumbe, and the construction of a new bridge at Bharathipura in Teerthahalli Taluk.

Furthermore, PM Modi has released the 13th instalment of approximately Rs 16,000 crores under the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) through direct benefits transfer to more than eight crore beneficiaries in Belagavi. He will also launch the Londa-Belagavi rail line doubling project worth Rs 930 crores, which will increase line capacity along the busy Mumbai-Pune-Hubballi-Bengaluru railway line, promoting trade, commerce, and economic activities in the region, as reported by PTI.
