TN records 521 fresh Covid cases, health dept on alert

TN, 18 Apr:In the latest update on the Covid-19 situation in the state, the public health department has reported 521 new cases in the last 24 hours, along with a test positivity rate (TPR) of 8.6 per cent. This has prompted the department to issue an alert to all district health officers to step up their efforts in containing the spread of the virus.

The rise in the number of cases is a cause for concern, especially as the state had seen a decline in cases in recent weeks. The increase in TPR is also worrying, as it indicates a higher level of transmission in the community. The public health department has urged people to follow Covid-19 appropriate behaviour, such as wearing masks, maintaining social distancing, and washing hands regularly, to help contain the spread of the virus.

The department has also advised district health officers to ramp up testing and contact tracing efforts to identify and isolate positive cases. They have been instructed to conduct regular health camps in high-risk areas and to ensure that hospitals have adequate beds, oxygen, and other necessary medical supplies to handle any increase in cases.

The state government has assured the public that all necessary measures are being taken to contain the spread of the virus. The vaccination drive is also being ramped up, with more vaccination centres being set up across the state. The government has urged all eligible citizens to come forward and get vaccinated as soon as possible.

The public health department has emphasized that everyone has a role to play in fighting the pandemic. By following Covid-19 appropriate behaviour and getting vaccinated, people can help protect themselves and their communities from the virus.

As the situation continues to evolve, the public health department will provide regular updates and issue further advisories as necessary. It is important for everyone to stay vigilant and take all necessary precautions to stay safe during these challenging times.
